This weekend I started my first batch of cold brew. Mostly because it just seemed too easy not to at least try. I mean, sleeping is literally one of the steps. Plus, you get to make it in a mason jar. Really, the more I think about it, it's more notable that I haven't tried this sooner.
But the thing is, I don't drink coffee at home....much. I never have been the type to brew coffee every morning-- that's the time for tea! And though I have experimented with an occasional pour over (before that was "a thing") and had a Keurig clogging up counter space for most of the past few years, now the Keurig lives in its box in the garage waiting for guests and my pour over cone had been in semi-retirement until I pulled it from the top shelf for the purpose of straining my cold brew yesterday morning. I absolutely love good coffee but I don't drink it every day or, lately, even every week.
Sometimes I drink coffee to improve or enhance a moment or an experience, like a trip to the park or a long drive. But I also drink it as an experience. Nearly every cup is notable. I like to go "to" coffee. To hunt it down. "I went for coffee" is a perfectly acceptable response to the question "What did you do today?"
And for this reason, my poor friends and family are subjected to pictures of nearly every cup of coffee I drink.
